What Our Volunteers Have to Say…

Volunteering with Cheshire Buddies is something that I know I will never regret, every time I volunteer I learn something new about myself and what I can do.
As well as this, from the moment I started working here, it has opened my eyes up to the different types of people and the disabilities many individuals have.
It is my passion to help and care for people, so I just love helping this charity, you learn something new each time and I have developed many skills.

I have been volunteering for Buddies for 12 months, I have loved every minute of it
Every session is different, the children are great and we all have so much fun!

Buddies Volunteer

I have learnt so much and done so much. I wanted to be able to give something back to the my community, it is so rewarding, to be part of Buddies has really changed my outlook and I am now really keen to start a teaching course for special needs children.

Buddies Volunteer

Volunteering with Central Cheshire Buddies Scheme has been one of the greatest opportunities of my life. I’ve been volunteering with them since I was 16
The charity provides several varied clubs that I have helped with over the years. The main Saturday club which is always packed with activies such as: crafts, sports, trips to park and cooking. As well as the one to one group which provides children with more attentive support, in activities such as sessions at the Wingate Centre and swimming. Other clubs include a siblings group and Young Explorers I was given the opportunity to support all these groups.
For me personally it's the most fulfilling job I have had the chance to experience. It has helped with my confidence levels especially in terms of decision making and responsibility in authoritive roles. My volunteering experience was a huge element to my personal statement. This helped me get into my current psychology course at Bangor University. As well as providing me the volunteering hours required to complete my Duke of Edinburgh award. Over the years it has educated and prepared me, by giving me the experience I need for my degree and the certain career paths this will lead into. But most importantly, it's an indescribable fulfilling feeling to know that a few hours of your day can provide families with respite and an accepting and supportive environment for their children. I have enjoyed every session I have supported, which is why I continue to work with Central Cheshire Buddies Scheme around my studies at university.

2020, Being a volunteer during this last year, has really helped me! Just to be able to go and do something and be with the children has made a huge difference. I have really enjoyed helping out with the sibling group.
