Buddies Newsletter August 2017

Saturday Club dates

2nd September, 7th October, 4th November, 23rd December (Christmas party) 10-3pm cost £7.50, Georges Centre Crewe.

Raffle prizes

Do you have any unwanted Christmas presents that we could use at Buddies as raffle prizes? We will be doing a number of different fund raising events over the next 12 months and we will use prizes to help us raise money for the summer holiday club. We are also having a clothes weigh in so if you have any old clothes, shoes, hats, belts or coats bag them give up them to a member of the team.

The Changing Lives Project ( a group for disabled adults) will are making jam and chutney  – if you have any empty jars that we can re-use– please bring them to the next club session or give them to Louise or Tori. The jams, chutney and pickled beetroot are for sale at £1 a jar- all money raised will be used to fund Buddies activities.

A MASSIVE THANK YOU to all the VOLUNTEERS that helped out during the summer holidays giving up your free time to come and help the children at club. We really do appreciate your support and hope you will be able to come along to our Saturday sessions. We are always looking for new volunteers so if you know of a young person who wants to work with children or needs some volunteering experience speak to Louise on 07938163103.

On Saturday 1st/ & Sunday 2nd July the Buddies did a cycleathon from Crewe to Isle of Man,  a total of 333 miles. The Buddies team were in Tesco Crewe from 10-5pm and thanks to a great team of volunteers we managed to cycle the whole distance.Thank you to everyone who helped, we raised over £510 towards the Isle of Man trip.


Siblings Group

CCBS have received funding from the Cheshire Community Foundation to continue to run the siblings group (which provides support to brothers and sisters). The group will go on a number of trips and activities as well as producing a DVD to explain to professionals what it is like having a disabled brother or sister. Allotment project

Over the past 6 months the Buddies have been running an allotment. The Changing Lives group have been leading the project and have grown a wide range of vegetables including potatoes,beetroot,tomatoes,onions, and pumpkins.The project has been funded by the Tesco Blue Token scheme. Thanks to everyone at Tesco


TESCO Blue Tokens

We need your support by collecting the blue tokens in Tesco and putting them in the Buddies box. The funding will be used for a project called ‘Back to Nature’ where we will take the children den building, pond dipping, crab fishing etc Tokens finish at end of August
